Who we are
When you use our site we may collect information about you and the device you use to access the site. This information may be simply transactional (pages visited, products viewed, etc.) or personal that is tied specifically to you (name, address, phone number, email address, etc.).
Personal Data you provide to us
Contact Information – You provide personal data when you place orders for our products and/or create an account on our site and when you request information about those orders through the use of our contact form. We publish a newsletter from time to time. You do not have to be a customer to receive the newsletter.
Billing and Payment Information – When you place an order we may ask for a credit card number as well as your billing address in order to process and fulfill your order. We may also pass your order details on to a credit card processor to handle payment. Your card information is not stored on our server.
Coupons, Surveys and Contests – We may, from time to time offer coupons, surveys or contests where additional information may be collected in association with product discounts, free or discounted shipping or prize awards. Use of these features is voluntary and is not required in any way to use or to place an order on our site.
Our web server automatically collects information about the use of our site such as pages visited, your IP address, your computer and browser type and the search engine and search strings you may have used to get to our site. We use transactional data to improve the functionality of our site and to improve the user experience as you navigate our site.
If you leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture, if you have one, is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you fill out a comment or contact form on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you use these forms again. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Documents on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, maps, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Information gathered on the site, personally identifiable or not is accessible by certain employees of Chocolates by Leopold, Inc. and outside organizations that are necessary to operate our site, process your payments and ship your orders.
What we do with all of this data
Along with order processing, we analyze order data and transactional data to determine the popularity of existing products over time and make decisions about what future products may be available on our site and in our physical stores. We also use analytics to determine which features of the web site to enhance, eliminate or replace. We may from time to time, offer price and shipping discounts to individuals based on products purchased, dollar value of your order or other metrics. We may also offer similar discounts to organizations as part of fundraisers
How long we retain your data
If you fill out forms on our site the information and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so that we can recognize you and respond to your questions about your orders and/or our products.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information you provide in your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. This information is retained as long as you have an account.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
